My recent Wild, Wild, West fixation got me catch to my attention on a couple of very cool T-shirts from Acapulco Gold‘s Fall 2010 line-up. The shirts, titled the Stickup and Shootout, pay homage to the thieving and rebellious lifestyle of the Western bad boys. These are definitely a couple of simple and well designed shirts.
Over this next week I will definitely be spending a part of my holiday break at the movie theaters watching two Oscar buzz worthy movies – True Grit and Black Swan. I cannot afford to wait for these movies to come out on DVD. Must. See. Now.
I’ve been on a Western movie fix as of late and finally acquainted myself with movies like Unforgiven and The Quick and the Dead and recently started watching HBO’s Deadwood. True Grit, directed by the Coen Brothers and starring a solid cast that includes Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon, and Josh Brolin, looks like it’s going to be another Western classic – needless to say another Coen Brothers masterpiece. I’ve never seen the original True Grit, starring John Wayne, but don’t really see the point of doing so since the Coen Brother’s version should be considered as their own piece of film work. Plus, the Coen Brother’s also didn’t see the point of seeing the original before they started making their film.
Here’s the trailer for the new True Grit. Now, off to find this weekend’s movie times…
For the past couple of months I’ve had the pleasure to take part in a collaborative photography project led up by my good homey Dave Brewer, aka DJ So Gold, titled From Here to There. Dave brought together a few of his other friends and myself to collaborate and share the pictures we capture during our daily lives on this blog. Lifestyle magazine Frank 151 recently interviewed Dave about his thoughts behind From Here to There.
Photoblogging has been a great way for me to continue iphotography snap-shooting. In fact, participating in this blog has made me a little more observant of my surroundings as I go about through the day. Things once gone unnoticed have suddenly become wonderful photo subjects for my camera. Here are some of my favorite pieces so far from the collection, captured by all the talented participants in this fun project.
Well, it’s been fun while it lasted. We were handed some pretty awesome weather the last few weeks. Summer never seemed to want to go away and stretched out as far as it could into Fall. While we were just getting used to warm weather during autumn days, Mother Nature brought us right back into reality and dropped over 10″ of snow. The return of winter wonderland.
Design blog Kitsune Noir puts together a monthly music compilation called Mixcast and No. 43 is a great one to listen to during the coming days of cold temps and snow. Give the mix a listen, you won’t be disappointed. Andrew Bird, M. Ward, Sufjan Stevens, and Grizzly Bear – bring on the cool.
I’m totally loving Diplo’s remix of Deerhunter’s Helicopter.
